Applicants are invited to apply for a one-year fixed term role (with likely extension), as Cardiac Lead for the South West Maternal Medicine Network. The role would suit an applicant with a CCT in obstetrics with a strong interest in the care of cardiology patients.
The role attracts 1PAs and commences in March 2026 for 1 year initially.
Main duties of the job- Demonstrating leadership in cardiology maternal medicine, including education, care plans.
- Liaising with SWMMN obstetric, medical, anaesthetic, midwifery, cardiology and governance leads about cardiology patients and care plans.
- Attending Cardiology MDT to discuss cardiology patient care plans as required.

Person Specification QualificationsEssential
- CCT (or equivalent)
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS).

- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
- Experience in cardiology

- Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
- Experience in audit project and written up
- Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues
- Knowledge of political context within which we operate

- Proven teaching ability.
Desirable
- Proven track record in research.
- Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals.
- Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management.

- Good written communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.

- Ability to fulfil all the duties of the post, including on‑call commitments.
