Senior Clinical Fellow in Critical Care Medicine

Overview

UHBW Critical Care Department is looking to recruit a post-CCT/ST6+ Senior Fellow for a full‑time role of six months to one year. The position is based in both the General and Cardiac Intensive Care Units, providing exposure to ECMO patients as part of a sixth National SARF/ECMO centre.

• Provide oversight of the critical care bed base with non‑resident on‑call shifts as part of a partial shift rota pattern.
• Work alongside other doctors in the General and Cardiac Intensive Care Units, supporting comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in ECMO and Severe Acute Respiratory Failure care, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Contribute to projects and quality improvement initiatives, allocating 20% of the role to non‑clinical activities.

• Senior trainee in Intensive Care Medicine, having completed Stage 2 training or nearing completion of the CCT.
• GMC registration with a licence to practice.
• Demonstrated interest in, and experience with, critical care clinical and leadership duties.

• Develop skills in Critical Care Echocardiography, Simulation Facilitation and Education, Clinical Research, Quality Improvement, and Leadership & Management.
• Receive mentorship from Consultants and support for pursuing additional qualifications in research, education, or management.
• Potential funding to support further professional development.
