Job OverviewTo develop the EFM workforce by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and competence necessary to deliver a safe and effective service.
To contribute to the Learning & Development strategy under the guidance of the EFM Training & Development Manager.
To provide classroom and practical training in workplace skills and associated duties, as directed by the EFM Training & Development Manager.
To conduct follow‑up observations for new and existing staff, ensuring they demonstrate competency to work in accordance with the correct procedures as trained.
To support the EFM Training & Development Manager in their full range of duties, including the delivery of cleaning/domestic skills, food safety, NHS mandatory training, and "Welcome to EFM" inductions for new staff.
Knowledge- A working knowledge, or willingness to develop knowledge, of NHS standards of cleanliness and local Trust cleaning policies and procedures.
- General knowledge of training delivery techniques, including the use of presentation equipment.
- Basic knowledge of working with staff who have Basic Skills needs and/or for whom English is not their first language.
- Working knowledge of vocational training and qualifications.
- Level 3 Education and Training qualification, or equivalent experience. Candidates actively working towards or willing to undertake this qualification will also be considered.
- Evidence of, and enthusiasm for, ongoing professional development and personal growth within their area of occupational competence.
- Experience in supporting staff/learners in the workplace, delivering Soft Facilities Management skills such as cleaning skills training and solutions.
Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and delivering effective work skills training to groups of staff with varying abilities. This includes cleaning skills, mandatory skills, catering support, and "Welcome to EFM" new staff inductions.
- Liaise and coordinate effectively with staff members, managers, and other division members to optimise learning opportunities in both the workplace and classroom.
- Observe new staff members' progress in the workplace after initial training to ensure they can effectively demonstrate and utilise their new skills.
- Contribute to the identification of training needs through analysis and assist in developing programmes in response.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and contribute to assessing their impact on the service.
- Provide requested information to staff regarding their training requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation to required standards. Maintain and appropriately use Trust resources, reporting faults and malfunctions when they occur.
- Stay updated on national and local priorities, policies, procedures, and training guidelines.
- Handle sensitive information professionally, seeking clarity when necessary.
- Report any unsafe practices observed.
- Assist with other aspects of the training department as needed.
- Report concerns to the EFM Training & Development Manager, identifying issues outside your level of competence.
- Ensure the training area is prepared and maintained to facilitate learning.
- Be familiar with Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain respect for privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in all actions.
- Exhibit professional behaviour, demonstrating excellent customer care and supporting equality, diversity, and inclusion of all learners.
- Act within the limits of your competence, ensuring actions support the care, protection, and wellbeing of others.
- Maintain responsibility for identifying your own continuing development needs.
- Ensure all mandatory training is completed in line with Trust policy and maintain records of progression and achievement.
Essential criteria:
- Minimum of Level 3 Education and Training Certificate (or equivalent experience)
- Working knowledge or willingness to develop knowledge of NHS Standards of cleanliness and local Trust cleaning standards
- General knowledge of training delivery techniques including the use of presentation equipment.
