School Caretaker / Site Assistant – Primary School

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a thriving Primary School in Bristol. This is a key role responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and site improvements
Ensure the security of the school site, including unlocking and locking the premises
Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, alarms, and other utilities
Maintain school grounds to a clean, tidy, and presentable standard
Support health & safety compliance across the site
Conduct routine checks and risk awareness duties
Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required
Act as a keyholder
Requirements

Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Site Manager, or Maintenance Operative (desirable)
Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills
Good knowledge of health and safety procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work
Willingness to undertake out-of-hours duties when required
Safeguarding

An Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) is required
Applicants must be able to provide at least two professional references
