About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join our new Acorn School, Avonside School in Brislington, Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing a high‑quality, inclusive learning environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.
ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with the Headteacher and wider team, you will deliver engaging, personalised teaching that raises standards, builds confidence and promotes positive outcomes for all learners. As an SEN Teacher you will:
- Deliver high‑quality teaching across a range of subjects within the secondary curriculum, using resources effectively to secure strong progress and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher to support curriculum development and take on additional agreed responsibilities to ensure effective delivery.
- Adapt teaching flexibly to meet individual needs, including teaching beyond your main subject area where required.
- Promote pupils’ personal development and wellbeing, supporting their social, emotional and academic growth.
- Uphold safeguarding and professional standards, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and all school policies.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including administrative responsibilities, specific areas of leadership, and additional duties as required, reviewed through performance management and school improvement processes.
Avonside School is a brand‑new specialist school in Bristol for young people with SEMH, autism, and associated needs. We provide a supportive environment prioritising wellbeing, personal growth, and academic progress. Our curriculum offers hands‑on vocational pathways in construction, hair and beauty, hospitality, art and IT, building practical skills and independence.
