Supply Teacher - English

About the Role

Hays Education is recruiting English Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a range of secondary schools in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are looking for passionate English specialists who can deliver high-quality lessons in English Language and Literature to KS3 and KS4 students.

We have regular opportunities for:

• Day-to-day cover
• Short-term blocks
• Long-term English roles (now, Easter, and September)

What you'll be doing

As an English Supply Teacher, you will:

• Deliver pre-planned English lessons across KS3-KS4
• Support progress in reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement
• Follow departmental schemes of work and school policies
• Adapt confidently to a range of schools and class groups

Long-term placements may include planning, marking, assessments and involvement in the wider English department.What you'll need to succeed

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
• Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements welcome)
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management
• The right to work in the UK
• An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
• A flexible, positive approach to supply teaching
• ECTs are encouraged to apply
