The Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA) is a weekend performing arts school for children and young people aged 6-18 years. Students engage in a unique three-hour program focusing on Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Film & Television. Designed by professionals from the performing arts and education industries, PQA’s curriculum emphasizes educational excellence and real-world industry practices. The academy strives to provide a rewarding, enriching experience for all its students who are passionate about performing arts.

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site role for a Comedy & Drama Teacher based in Bristol. The successful candidate will lead engaging, dynamic, and educational drama workshops for students aged 6-18 years. Responsibilities include planning structured sessions, teaching acting techniques, nurturing young performers, and developing creativity and confidence in students. The teacher will also contribute to productions and help students showcase their talents during performances.

Our sessions run in BS3 on a Saturday during term time from 9.15am - 12.30pm.

Qualifications
  • Strong background in Drama and Performing Arts, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Experience in Teaching Acting and Curriculum Development to young learners or in a similar educational setting.
  • Proficiency in designing creative lesson plans that are both entertaining and educational.
  • Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a passion for developing young talent.
  • Relevant professional experience in the performing arts industry is a plus.
  • Teaching or drama-related qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and foster an inclusive, supportive environment.
