PE Gap Year Student

Contract: 1-year fixed term (September 2026 - August 2027)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40.5 hours per week (3 days 8:00‑4:00, 2 days 8:00‑5:30), 38 weeks per year

Salary: National Minimum Wage (FTE £21,157 aged 18‑20 / £24,784 aged 21+; actual £19,211 / £22,504)

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play an active role in school life, supporting both sport and classroom learning, as follows:

  • Assist in delivering PE lessons to pupils aged 4‑11
  • Support teaching staff with lesson preparation and classroom activities, particularly in Reception and Key Stage 1
  • Contribute to co‑curricular sport and wider school activities
  • Undertake supervision duties and support pupil wellbeing
  • Help prepare resources and maintain classrooms and learning spaces
  • Provide general administrative support to staff
  • Attend fixtures, events, meetings and occasional evening activities
About you
  • You’ll be a motivated and enthusiastic individual, ideally looking to gain experience in education or sport
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
  • A genuine passion for sport and working with children
  • Organised, proactive and able to use your initiative
  • A flexible team player with a positive, ‘can‑do’ approach
  • Awareness of safeguarding and commitment to pupil wellbeing
  • Interest in fitness or strength and conditioning is advantageous
