We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Sports Coach / Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive SEND school in Filton, Bristol. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in June or September 2026.
About the RoleThis is a dynamic and rewarding role where you will use your sports coaching background to support students with behaviour and engagement. You will work closely with pupils both in lessons and through physical activity-based learning, helping them regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop positive behaviours.
The SchoolThis SEND school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with additional needs. The staff team is welcoming and supportive, with a strong focus on positive praise and encouragement to help every student succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver and support sports and physical activities to engage students
- Provide behaviour support on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Help de‑escalate challenging situations using calm and consistent approaches
- Build strong relationships with students to promote trust and engagement
- Support students both in and out of the classroom
- Encourage teamwork, resilience, and positive behaviour
The school supports pupils with Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, which may include:
- Anxiety, low mood, or emotional regulation challenges
- Behavioural difficulties, including op positional behaviour
- Additional needs such as ADHD, attachment disorders, or anxiety disorders
Students respond well to structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement, particularly through active and practical learning approaches.
Ideal Candidate- Background in sports coaching, PE, or youth work
- Experience working with SEND, ASD, or SEMH (desirable)
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Energetic, resilient, and adaptable approach
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- GCA Approved Supplier
- Team Teach Courses Available in May and August 2026
