Bristol Sensory Support Service are seeking to appoint Teachers of the Deaf to work in a peripatetic role with schools, early years settings, special schools, colleges and families (0‑25) to build their capacity to meet the needs of learners who have a hearing loss through our Advisory and Teaching programmes.
We are looking to appoint a motivated professional who is committed to working in partnership with our stakeholders and who seeks to improve the outcomes for all our young people with hearing loss. The role as a Teacher of the Deaf requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability to work independently and the ability to contribute to the wider team within the Service.
Being well organised and able to meet deadlines is essential. Bristol Sensory Support Service work across the four unitary authorities of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
We will consider suitably experienced teachers without the mandatory qualification who are interested in developing their specialist skills to work with pupils who are deaf. You will be an outstanding practitioner who has recent classroom teaching experience, a passion for SEND and is willing to undertake the two‑year specialist postgraduate qualification to train as a Teacher of the Deaf. The Service provides a mentor for all new members of staff and for those in training.
Due to the nature of this role you must be able to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post. Teachers within the Service may work across more than one of the Unitary Authorities.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
