Teaching Assistant - Bristol South

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant in Bristol. This role is available 5 days a week from 8:30 to 15:30. No previous experience is required, as you will learn on the job. You will work with pupils with SEND needs, primarily autism, using Autism Teaching Techniques such as "Now and Next". The work is one‑to‑one with a primary pupil, but you may also support small groups during activities such as reading.

• Support pupils 1:1 in class
• Help students access the curriculum and tailor lesson activity to their level of ability
• Build a strong relationship with pupils and teaching staff to ensure pupils achieve their potential
• Provide support when pupils struggle, help them calm down and remain focused

• Emotionally resilient and able to stay calm in challenging situations
• Strong communicator with a positive and proactive mindset
• Able to build rapport with young people, especially those who may struggle to trust adults
• Backgrounds in youth work, care, mental health, sport, or support work are valuable (previous experience not essential)

• Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship or Skilled Worker visas accepted
• Provide two recent references (from the last two years)
• Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
• If you do not have a Non‑Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, Five Education will help you process one at a cost of £62.70, refundable after 20 days of work
