Teaching Assistant

Job Overview

Join E‑ACT Merchants Secondary School as a Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with teachers to support learning in and outside the classroom, identifying and removing barriers to learning, promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

• Support students’ learning in the classroom under the direction of teaching staff.
• Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups.
• Assist with behaviour management and promote positive engagement.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• Support students’ academic, social and emotional development.

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
• Relevant TA, childcare or education qualification (desirable).
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students.
• Confidence supporting learning in and out of the classroom.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Pay Range: NJC5 – £19,764.35 to £20,397.85. Full‑time equivalent: £25,583.00 to £26,403.00.

Hours:

32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
