Student Support Mentor – Bristol

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | September Start

Are you looking for a role where you can genuinely influence a young person's future?

We are working with a specialist SEN and SEMH school in Bristol seeking a Student Support Mentor to support pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in education.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are confident working with young people and want to develop valuable experience in behaviour support, pastoral care, mental health or education.

The Role

As a Student Support Mentor, you will work closely with pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and build confidence in school.

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students
  • Support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Work alongside teaching, behaviour and pastoral teams
  • Contribute to a calm, structured and supportive environment

Some pupils may present behaviours that challenge, so resilience, consistency and strong communication skills are important.

Who This Role Would Suit

We welcome applications from:

  • Behaviour Mentors
  • Youth Workers
  • Support Workers
  • Sports Coaches
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Psychology, Criminology and Education Graduates

You will be particularly suited to this role if you:

  • Build rapport quickly with young people
  • Remain calm under pressure
  • Are confident setting expectations and boundaries
  • Have an interest in behaviour, mental health or education
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same
What You'll Receive
  • A role within a well-supported specialist SEMH/SEN setting
  • Ongoing training in behaviour, safeguarding and SEN
  • Opportunity to develop specialist behaviour and pastoral experience
  • Supportive leadership and experienced staff teams
  • Clear progression into behaviour, pastoral and education-based careers
  • Weekly PAYE pay (no umbrella deductions)
