Special Needs / Learning Disabilities, Special Education Teacher, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
North Star 265 is part of North Star Academy Trust’s specialist provision in North Bristol, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are committed to providing a joined‑up, high-quality educational experience that enables every pupil to thrive both academically and personally.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate PE Teacher with the ability to teach across Key Stage 1 to 4. The ideal candidate will have completed their ECT induction and bring a range of skills and sporting interests that will enrich our curriculum and engage students in physical activity, health and wellbeing. You will play a key role in delivering an inclusive and motivating PE curriculum that supports pupils’ physical development, confidence and emotional regulation.
Experience of working within an SEMH or SEND setting would be advantageous. As the school continues to expand, you will be joining us during an exciting transition from a primary-style model within secondary to a subject-specialist curriculum. The role will involve teaching additional subjects until December 2026.
You will support the delivery of an innovative, trauma-informed curriculum that enables students with SEN to reach their full potential. PE plays a vital role in developing resilience, teamwork and self-esteem, and you will have real scope to shape these aspects of pupils’ learning, while setting clear expectations for both behaviour and progress. This is a role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence practice across the school.
We are looking for a teacher with:
- The ability to deliver high-quality PE teaching across the school
- A strong understanding of SEMH, Autism Spectrum Conditions, learning difficulties and the impact of trauma and attachment
- Experience using assessment to track progress and support pupil development, both physically and socially
- A commitment to collaboration, inclusion and safeguarding
- Experience of working with HLTAs and/or LSAs to maximise student engagement and participation
You will be part of:
- A dedicated team of staff who strive for excellence
- A caring and inclusive ethos
- A school with supportive trustees and parents who hold high expectations
In return, we offer a competitive salary, pension scheme, a supportive and collaborative team, high-quality training and development, and strong opportunities for career progression.
