Teaching Assistant (ELSA Trained) – ASC SEN School, South Bristol
Vision for Education is seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training to join a specialist SEN school in South Bristol, supporting primary‑aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is a full‑time role starting on a supply basis through Vision for Education and is highly likely to become a permanent position for the right candidate
, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career in specialist education.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support primary‑aged pupils with ASC on a one‑to‑one basis and in small groups.
- Use your ELSA training to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, resilience and social development.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
- Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team to provide the best outcomes for pupils.
To be considered for the role, you will:
- Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
- Hold a recognised ELSA qualification.
- Have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition or other additional needs (desirable).
- Be patient, empathetic and resilient.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Competitive hourly rates paid via PAYE.
