Downend School is looking for a dedicated Study Centre Assistant to join our collaborative and dedicated team. Working under the direction of the Literacy Lead you will play a vital role in our Study Centre by supporting students, particularly those with low literacy levels, to reach their full potential. You will empower these pupils to achieve personal academic success and fully experience everything school has to offer.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver designated learning activities and pre-planned lessons to students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to improve literacy and wider curriculum outcomes.
- Provide teaching staff with feedback on student progress, contribute to the planning of support activities and advise staff on specific strategies to help students thrive.
- Promote the acceptance and inclusion of all students, helping to implement and review Individual Plans.
- Effectively use ICT to support learning and foster student independence.
- Contribute to the overall ethos of the school, which may include helping with supervisory arrangements during breaks or out-of-school activities.
We are looking for a flexible, personable and proactive individual who can act as a positive role model for our students while upholding our school values.
You will need- A good standard of general education (GCSE Level 5/Grade C or above in Maths and English).
- Prior experience supporting pupils with individual, diverse needs.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative and adapt to changing situations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong, effective relationships
- Confidence in delivering pre-planned learning activities to small groups.
