Role OverviewInstructional Systems Designers (ISDs) are responsible for the systematic analysis, design and development of training solutions specifically intended for formal training delivery. ISDs utilise various tools and technologies to support the effective transfer of knowledge, the attainment of skills, the development of attitudes and to address the specific needs of instructors.
Responsibilities- Conduct analysis to evaluate customer technical training needs to determine appropriate training content, objectives and courseware design methodologies.
- Design, develop and evaluate custom technical training courseware, assessments and assurance artefacts, collaborating closely with technical SMEs to ensure highly technical and complex content is targeted to the needs of the audience.
- Provide training services that meet the highest technical and quality standards, regulatory requirements and company policies and processes, embracing first‑time quality as a way of life.
- Identify and correct conditions and behaviours that affect employee, public and customer safety; uphold safety standards; demonstrate proactive safety culture leadership.
- Gather data to support proposals and assist with the preparation and presentation of reports regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of training projects and curricula.
- Coach, mentor and develop others and provide instruction and guidance in the performance of instructional system design principles, methodologies and tasks.
- Discover new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking to determine new instructional strategies, methods, technologies and tools related to instructional systems design, development and delivery for internal and external customers.
- Ability to obtain a UK security clearance.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the analysis, design, development or assurance of custom instructor‑led and distance learning courseware outputs, preferably within aerospace, energy, transport or manufacturing.
- Sound knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design and methods of evaluation.
- General knowledge of and some experience in the application of a standardised Systems Approach to Training (SAT).
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to various industry and customer sites throughout the UK.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Adobe Storyline 360.
- Experience with Learning and Content Management Systems (LCMS).
