Overview
To deliver high-quality teaching, coaching, and assessment that supports learners to successfully complete their Level 4 and 5 Residential Childcare apprenticeship standards or employer-based qualifications. The role will ensure all learners receive a stimulating, inclusive, and supportive learning journey, aligned to regulatory requirements and organisational values.
Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators- Responsible for an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners, providing high-quality training, coaching, mentoring, and assessment to achieve their apprenticeship standard and/or associated qualifications in a timely manner.
- Assess learners’ starting points to plan and sequence training for knowledge, skills, behaviours, English and maths development.
- Develop and agree individual training plans in collaboration with employers to prepare learners for the final assessment/end point assessment.
- Develop and implement effective training and learning strategies and activities, including resources to support learners in progressing toward successful completion of their learning programme.
- Provide training, coaching and assessment that meet standards set by Acorn Training and Awarding Organisations (AO), and comply with relevant AO and Acorn QA processes; present learners’ work for quality assurance as required.
- Ensure off-the-job training is planned, tracked, and monitored as part of the individual apprentices’ training plan.
- Support the continuous development of learners’ English, maths, and digital skills.
- Ensure learners have access to pastoral support and understand Safeguarding, Prevent, Radicalisation, Equality, Diversity and Fundamental British values.
- Organise and plan assessment opportunities and regular review meetings with learners and their employer to set and review targets, provide constructive feedback, and document progress.
- Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers throughout their programme, including Guidance and Wellbeing resources.
- Manage timescales, set and monitor objectives and deadlines, and track training and assessment outcomes and achievement.
- Carry out employer health and safety risk assessment reviews where necessary.
- Maintain an electronic diary of sessions and visits to learners in their workplaces, planning visits in advance and adhering to lone working policy.
- Maintain accurate records for all apprentices and employers in electronic systems, ensuring timely documentation of interactions.
- Progress of learners over time as measured by performance, skills development, and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Quality and effectiveness of feedback provided to learners.
- Quality of teaching, learning and assessment in both 1:1 and group sessions.
- Engagement and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of assessment processes.
- Learner and employer satisfaction with the teaching, learning and assessment process.
- Timeliness and level of learner achievement and knowledge retention.
- Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential)
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (essential)
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (essential)
- GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel (essential)
- Level 4 IQA qualification (desirable)
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or equivalent (desirable)
- IOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification (desirable)
- First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)
- Current and ongoing involvement within the residential childcare / education and training sector (essential)
- Significant experience working as a Residential Childcare practitioner (essential)
- Meeting targets for timely achievement (essential)
- Working successfully as part of a team (essential)
- Supporting learners to achieve successful outcomes in a work-based environment (desirable)
