Do you want to make a real difference to young people's lives? Are you passionate about supporting pupils with their social and emotional development?

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and resilient Youth Mentor to join schools across Bristol, providing vital support to children and young people within primary and secondary settings. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve their wellbeing and develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.

This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to be that trusted adult in a young person's life. If you have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach or in a similar child focused support role, we want to hear from you.

The Role:
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who need additional support
  • Providing one to one and small group mentoring sessions
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)
  • Working alongside teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Helping pupils stay engaged in lessons and achieve their learning goals
  • Promoting positive behaviour and teaching emotional regulation strategies
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and self esteem in young people
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records of mentoring sessions, progress and interventions
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people
We Are Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, sports coaching or community setting
  • Understanding of the challenges facing young people with additional needs, behavioural difficulties or social and emotional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
