Teacher Active is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school in Bristol to recruit a dedicated HLTA for the new academic year. The school provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex additional needs. Through personalised learning and a collaborative approach, the school helps every pupil develop the skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
The school is looking to appoint a full-time HLTA on a long-term basis from September 2026. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver targeted interventions, lead learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes where appropriate, and provide high-quality support for pupils with complex needs. You will play an important role in promoting progress, encouraging independence, and helping pupils achieve positive academic, social, and emotional outcomes.
The successful HLTA will have:
- HLTA status or relevant equivalent experience
- Experience working within a SEND school or specialist educational setting
- A good understanding of Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Experience supporting pupils with complex medical needs and behaviours that challenge
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to build positive relationships
- A positive, proactive, and reflective approach to supporting children and young people
