About the Role

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a number of secondary and primary schools across Bristol who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Workers to join their teams.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development within an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Support students with behavioural needs, helping them to stay engaged with learning
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted adult and role model
  • Assist with attendance, behaviour tracking, and intervention strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and safeguarding leads
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, or similar)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional or complex needs
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and effectively
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or childcare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
