A selection of thriving secondary schools and multi-academy trusts across Bristol (BS postcodes, including Central Bristol, North Bristol, and South Avon) are seeking energetic, safety-conscious Science Specialists for flexible day-to-day and short-term supply cover across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Role Overview

As a specialist Science Supply Teacher, you will step into pre-planned Chemistry, Biology, and Physics lessons across various secondary settings in Bristol. Bristol schools particularly value subject-specialist supply educators who can confidently explain scientific concepts, guide quantitative problem-solving, and ensure strict health and safety adherence in practical and theoretical laboratory environments.

This role offers total flexibility: work anywhere from 1 to 5 days per week with zero lesson planning, marking, or parents' evening commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-set Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined & Triple Science)
  • Assist pupils with theoretical tasks, chemical calculations, multi-step physics equations, and biological diagrams
  • Enforce strict laboratory safety protocols in accordance with CLEAPSS guidelines and individual school policies
  • Manage classroom behavior using each school’s behavior policy to maintain a safe, focused environment
  • Complete electronic registers accurately at the start of each period
  • Leave structured written feedback and handover notes for returning departmental staff
What’s on Offer
  • Total Schedule Control: Choose the specific days and local Bristol areas (e.g., Clifton, Bedminster, Bradley Stoke, Fishponds) you wish to work
  • Competitive Pay: Paid weekly via PAYE on market-leading daily supply rates
  • Zero Admin: No planning, marking, or extra-curricular obligations
  • Variety: Experience diverse learning environments across state academies, faith schools, and single-sex settings
  • Long-Term Potential: Opportunity to transition into short-term block bookings or permanent positions if desired
Candidate Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK equivalent (ECTs, Experienced Teachers, and FE-qualified practitioners with strong secondary experience welcome)

Honors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related STEM discipline

Strong classroom presence, behavior management, and de-escalation skills

Up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS safety guidelines and laboratory protocols
