An Outstanding Secondary School in Waltham Forest is looking for a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis from October 2026.
This is an important role within the school, working closely with students, parents, teachers and senior leaders to improve attendance and punctuality. You will be responsible for identifying concerns early, following up on absence and helping put effective support in place for students who may be struggling to attend regularly.
The Role- Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school
- Follow up unexplained and persistent absence with parents and carers
- Identify attendance patterns and concerns using school data
- Maintain accurate attendance records and produce regular reports
- Work alongside pastoral and safeguarding teams to support individual students
- Communicate confidently with families and encourage improved attendance
- Support attendance interventions and meetings where required
- Liaise with external agencies when appropriate
The successful candidate will have previous experience in school attendance, pastoral administration or a similar education-based role. You will need to be confident working with sensitive information, communicating with families and using data to identify patterns and concerns.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a calm, professional approach are essential. Experience using a school MIS or attendance system would be highly advantageous.
