Protocol Education is working closely with specialist and mainstream schools across Bristol that are seeking dedicated and compassionate ASD Support Assistants to join their teams from October.

These rewarding roles involve supporting pupils with autism to access learning, develop communication skills, build confidence and navigate the school day successfully. For many children with ASD, consistent routines, positive relationships and patient support are key to their development, making this a role where your impact will be felt every single day.

The Role As an ASD Support Assistant, you will:

Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout the school day Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs

Help pupils engage with learning and classroom activities

Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff

Assist with structured routines and transitions throughout the day Implement personalised support strategies and EHCP targets

Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For This role would suit someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people with ASD, SEND or additional needs

Is patient, understanding and emotionally resilient

Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils

Understands the importance of routine, consistency and clear communication

Is confident supporting children with varying communication and learning needs

Has experience with PECS, Makaton or autism-specific strategies (desirable but not essential)
Is passionate about helping children reach their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
