ASAP SEND Inclusion Support are recruiting on behalf of a valued specialist school in Guildford for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist autism-focused setting. The school is looking for reliable, experienced and consistent staff who can become a valued part of the wider classroom team. There are opportunities for permanent and long-term positions, as well as experienced Teaching Assistants who are looking for regular supply work within the same setting , rather than moving between different schools every day.

The role You will work alongside experienced SEN Teachers to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, complex learning needs and communication difficulties. Depending on the pupil and classroom, your responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support Supporting autistic pupils to access learning Helping pupils develop communication and independence Supporting non-speaking pupils and those using AAC Supporting sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing Helping pupils manage transitions and changes to routine Responding calmly and consistently to behaviours that challenge Reinforcing classroom routines and expectations Supporting learning through practical and sensory approaches Working closely with teachers and the wider classroom team Supporting personal care or physical needs where required Who we're looking for We are interested in Teaching Assistants with genuine specialist SEND experience, particularly those who have worked with:
Autism Complex learning needs Communication and interaction needs Non-speaking pupils Sensory needs SEMH and emotional regulation Behaviours that challenge PMLD/SLD Specialist education settings You don't need to have experience of every area listed above. What matters is that you are patient, reliable, adaptable and confident supporting pupils with additional needs . The school is particularly keen to build a consistent team, so if you are looking for regular work where you can get to know the pupils, staff and routines rather than constantly moving between different settings, this could be a great opportunity.
