Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Teacher looking for your next teaching opportunity in Bristol? Axcis Education is seeking a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher for a full-time, long-term maternity cover position within a primary school in Bristol, starting in December 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident teacher who enjoys working with younger children and supporting their development during an important stage of their education.

You will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging lessons, creating a positive classroom environment and helping pupils build the foundations for future learning. The role offers a long-term opportunity with pay in line with the teacher pay scale, making it ideal for both experienced teachers and confident Early Career Teachers.

• Take responsibility for teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom
• Plan and deliver engaging, creative and age-appropriate lessons
• Deliver the Key Stage 1 curriculum and support pupils' progress across core subjects
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
• Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
• Support children's early development in reading, writing and mathematics
• Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has experience teaching within a primary school setting
• Ideally has experience teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1
• Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
• Is nurturing, enthusiastic and passionate about primary education
• Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Is reliable, organised and confident taking responsibility for a class

• Secure a full-time, long-term maternity cover position
• Teach a Year 1 class during a key stage of children's development
• Receive pay to scale, in line with your experience and qualifications
