AMRC) is a leading energy solutions provider dedicated to helping customers reduce costs, enhance resilience, and decarbonize to net zero. The role of Renewables Development Manager will be based in Bristol City Leaps offices, Bristol, United Kingdom.
Lead the development of Bristol City Leap’s portfolio of low‑carbon energy projects across the Bristol City Council estate and with other clients, covering the full suite of low‑carbon technologies including grid‑connected solar PV, wind, energy efficiency, heat pumps, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, batteries, and more.
Responsibilities Project Development- Develop renewable projects, especially ground‑mount solar PV and onshore wind.
- Lead land transactions, planning and consents, surveys, grid connection, and lease agreements.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful development and contract award.
- Coordinate design, planning, procurement, commercial, engineering and delivery work streams.
- Improve success rates and timelines for projects reaching the start of construction.
- Control the project programme and risk management process.
- Negotiate contracts and sub‑contracts, including PPAs, EPC agreements, land leases and other contracts.
- Stay informed about market trends, policy changes and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities for growth.
- Prepare and submit proposals, presentations and reports for clients and senior management.
- Produce and manage high‑quality project programmes.
- Contribute to the execution of strategic plans to ensure projects align with business objectives.
- Build strong relationships with Bristol City Council, clients and other stakeholders.
- Manage external consultants.
- Collaborate with Bristol City Council colleagues to identify decarbonisation opportunities on the council estate.
- Respond proactively to enquiries from potential clients.
- Experience in a Project Development role in an energy services, renewable or clean‑tech business.
- Experience developing grid‑scale renewables (solar, wind, BESS, etc.) is essential.
- Knowledge of renewable and low‑carbon technologies such as solar PV, energy efficiency measures, heat pumps, etc.
- Recognised formal project‑management qualification (PMP/APMP or equivalent) is desirable.
- Commercial awareness, strong negotiation skills and experience using commercial models and cost plans.
- Ability to set clear goals, manage complex business cases, and deliver high‑quality outcomes under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including technical experts and decision‑makers.
- Advanced IT skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and project tools such as MS Project.
- Goal‑focused, driven, self‑starting and confident with a flexible approach to work.
- Customer‑focused with a can‑do attitude and passion for renewable energy.
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to multitask, prioritise work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Relevant degree (e.g., engineering) or equivalent industry or vocational qualification.
- Experience in developing energy efficiency or renewable energy projects across a range of buildings/clients.
