Job Description

The Tekla 3D RC Modeller / Draftsman is responsible for developing high‑quality 3D reinforced concrete models using Tekla Structures for the most complex buildings of the EPR Nuclear Island on Sizewell

The role focuses on detailed RC modelling and detailing
, within a BIM‑managed environment
, working in close coordination with Senior Draftsmen and the BIM Coordinator
. The position supports the delivery of safety‑critical, highly congested reinforced concrete structures in a regulated nuclear context.

Scope of Works – Nuclear Island Buildings

The role will primarily support modelling activities for Nuclear Island structures (including Reactor buildings, Fuel buildings, Safeguard Buildings, Airplane Crash buildings).

These buildings involve very thick RC sections
, high reinforcement densities
, embedments
, and strict constructability constraints
.

Key Responsibilities 3D RC Modelling & Detailing (Tekla)
  • Develop and maintain 3D reinforced concrete models using Tekla Structures
    .
  • Model complex RC elements including:
    Rafts, basemats, thick walls and slabs;
    Dense reinforcement layouts;
    Openings, penetrations, embedments, and construction joints.
  • Produce RC detailing outputs including:
    General Arrangement (GA) drawings;
    Reinforcement drawings;
    Bar bending schedules (BBS).
  • Implement engineering mark‑ups, sketches, and comments accurately into the 3D model.
BIM Environment & Coordination
  • Work within a BIM‑managed environment
    , following the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Coordinate closely with:
    Senior Draftsman / Lead RC Detailer for technical guidance; BIM Coordinator for model federation, clash management, and data exchange.
  • Ensure Tekla models are consistent with:
    Naming conventions;
    Model structure;
    Level of detail and information required at each design stage.
  • Support resolution of clashes and interface issues identified during coordination reviews.
Quality, Nuclear Context & Compliance
  • Deliver modelling outputs in compliance with:
    Project procedures and nuclear quality requirements;
    Applicable design codes (Eurocodes, RCC‑CW where applicable).
  • Apply a strong nuclear safety culture to modelling activities.
  • Manage revisions and updates in line with document and model control procedures.
  • Support responses to design review comments and construction queries related to RC detailing.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in 3D reinforced concrete modelling using Tekla Structures
    .
  • Strong understanding of RC detailing principles and constructability.
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, calculations, and engineering intent.
  • Experience working in large infrastructure or complex building projects.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work to strict quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively within a structured, multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience on nuclear or other regulated projects.
  • Exposure to EPR, HPC, or SZC‑type structures.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and Common Data Environments (e.g. Project Wise).
  • Experience working with dense reinforcement and safety‑critical RC structures.
