We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with composite knowledge to join us at our modern manufacturing facility in Western Approach
. This site is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircrafts.

The successful applicant will provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to the operational and development programs that enable and deliver zero defect projects within the composites workspace.

You will work a 37.5 hour working week Monday - Friday, with scope to work shifts in the future if mutually beneficial.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers
  • Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives
  • Accountable for the implementation of production planning via SAP Workbench, introducing method, process and modification changes
  • Provide trouble‑shooting service to both products, processes and fixtures to maintain a constant flow of the product through the value stream
  • Design any new or changed process and product changes to a high level of process capability
  • Accountable for product development, first article, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation
  • Define the hard tooling requirements and support the introduction of tooling solutions from original concept through to production
  • Define the requirements for internal NC Programming ensuring the condition of supply for up and downstream suppliers is considered and that design intent is achieved
  • Define the requirements for procured parts and kits
  • Responsible for identifying and managing the introduction of any new chemicals, materials, and sealants, ensuring health and safety requirements are achieved and procurement processes are in place
What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Hands‑on experience working with Carbon Fibre Composites
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with in a large scale manufacturing environment

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with advanced fibre placement processes
  • A formal qualification within manufacturing engineering (or technician level experience within composites)
  • Familiarity with Airbus processes and procedures
  • Project / Program Management
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
