Are you a natural leader with experience delivering high-voltage and low-voltage power projects? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our team as a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Programme Manager.

This vacancy is for the north of our region, covering most of Somerset, South Gloucestershire, BANES and Wiltshire.

What you'll do

You will be responsible for the delivery and strategic planning of group-wide programmes, assisting in defining and maintaining the ‘order book' for projects to align with business strategy and developing roadmaps.

As a DNOProgramme Manager, you will:

  • work closely with the DNO Senior Programme Manager to deliver the growing portfolio of power installations and upgrades across the region.
  • deliver the programme through the management of stakeholders, suppliers and resources, including close collaboration with the DNOs
  • ensure the delivery of multiple projects to the agreed scope, quality and programme, all while remaining within the allocated budget
  • be responsible for commercial delivery of each project and report into commercial teams across the business
  • manage and mitigate risks and issues as they arise
  • line manage a team of Project Engineers and Managers
  • lead, coach and support the team through the full project cycle
  • have complete ownership of the programme of schemes that you are responsible for, with the full support and guidance of the business.
What you'll need

We are looking for someone with the ability to influence across all levels of management and explain complex technical matters in simple and understandable terms.

You'll have an HNC/HND/degree (or significant comparable industry experience with craft level qualifications) in an electrical engineering discipline, and solid experience in a project or technical engineering environment, ideally within a highly regulated sector such as Nuclear or Water industry.

You'll also be an efficient problem solver and can work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving targets.

You'll also need:

  • to be an experienced engineer working with 11kV systems and main incoming electrical supplies
  • a proactive, flexible and can‑do approach with a willingness to challenge norms and drive continuous improvement.
  • strong organisational skills and confident decision‑making abilities
  • the ability to prioritise and manage complex workloads within time and budget constraint
  • excellent presentation, IT, and communication skills.

And you'll ideally be:

  • working towards (or holding) Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution (e.g. IET)
  • experienced in feasibility, outline and detailed design of electrical projects
  • knowledgeable of contract documentation (preparation and interpretation)
  • familiar with CDM and Environmental regulations
  • aware of Water Industry design standards and technical requirements or similar regulated standards.
