M&E Engineer will be focused on the Turnkey discipline dealing with various Turnkey contractors delivering in both NI and CI-BOP areas but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such as the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).

Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, the post-holder will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries by the site contractor on the equipment across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island Buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the Turnkey Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
  • Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
  • Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy.
  • Assist in coordinating support from other external organisations.
  • Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
  • Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with EDF EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer).
  • Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
  • Experience in the understanding of welding engineering.
  • Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be pro‑active, report on and elevate relevant issues.
