Electrical Design Engineer – Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

Salary:
Up to £55,000, depending on experience/grade.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2–3 days per week on-site.

Security clearance:
British citizenship required. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design for EMC and Radiation Effects (RE) across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Advising project teams on EMC/RE requirements and best practices.
  • Designing and producing test plans and bespoke electronic test solutions.
  • Supporting the development of unique test capability for the EMC facility.
Qualifications
  • Higher education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in analogue and digital electronic design, development, and delivery.
  • Experience leading substantial electronic design work packages.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with SPICE simulation tools (LTspice, ORCAD).
  • Ability to work to defined deadlines and within budget constraints.
  • Experience with relevant military EMC standards (e.g., Defence Standard 59‑41 / 59‑411, AECTP
    500, Mil‑Std‑461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED‑14) is desirable.

Working Conditions

Work hours are flexible, with the requirement to be on-site 2–3 days per week. The role is based within the EMC Project Team at MBDA’s advanced EMC facility.
