Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Energy Recovery

SUEZ is hiring for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Severnside Energy Recovery Centre. You will be working as part of a supportive, multi‑skilled team, delivering both reactive and planned maintenance while contributing to a site that turns waste into energy and helps reduce environmental impact.

Salary: £36,646 - £39,832. Benefits: £3000 call out allowance, up to 10% annual bonus, 5% employer pension, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.

Location:

Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth.

Hours:

Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm.

What will you be doing?

As a Mechanical Technician within our Energy Recovery facility in Avonmouth, you'll keep essential plant and equipment operating safely, efficiently, and sustainably. This is an on‑hand opportunity suited to those with a mechanical bias who want to build a long‑term career in sustainable energy and circular economy operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out high-quality mechanical maintenance across all plant and equipment.
  • Support colleagues across disciplines and assist other sites when required.
  • Record work accurately using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and update documentation following plant changes.
  • Participate in a paid 24‑hour call‑out rota, and attend training when needed.
Requirements
  • A completed engineering apprenticeship, with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam‑raising, or heavy engineering environment.
  • Experience working safely in a regulated environment, including permit‑to‑work systems.
  • A relevant health and safety qualification (such as IOSH), plus welding and burning experience.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, a basic appreciation of electrical systems, and regulatory monitoring experience (MCERTS desirable).
