We’re looking for a Value Added Product Designer – Readymix to join our Readymix (RMX) team – someone who can turn insight into cutting‑edge products and help grow our market presence through innovation.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Research and Development, commercial insight, and technical excellence, helping deliver high‑performance, sustainable concrete solutions that meet the evolving needs of the construction industry.
Work on innovative, niche concrete products with real commercial impact. Collaborate with our UK Research and Development Centre. Influence product strategy and market growth. Engage with customers, technical experts, and industry bodies. Play a key role in sustainability and future construction solutions.
What you’ll be doing- Lead the design, testing, and deployment of advanced concrete products.
- Identify and develop new, innovative RMX products aligned to market opportunities.
- Evaluate designs against performance, cost, and commercial viability.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and customers to spot opportunities.
- Plan and execute laboratory and plant trials.
- Ensure compliance through audits and testing protocols.
- Deliver technical training to product support and operational teams.
- Drive continuous improvement across site and laboratory practices.
- Monitor and optimise control and batching systems.
- Support integration of new products into mainstream production processes.
- Champion safety, quality, and operational excellence in all activities.
- Strong understanding of Readymix testing processes and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of cement chemistry and admixture technologies.
- Ability to translate technical performance into practical, scalable solutions.
- Proactive approach and a solution‑focused mindset.
- Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to engage with and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Committed to continuous learning, particularly in sustainability.
- City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 (or equivalent) concrete‑related qualification e.g. Concrete Society, University Certificate in Concrete Technology (advantageous).
- Knowledge and experience of concrete products, processes, applications and best practice.
- Enjoy solving complex technical challenges.
- Want to influence product innovation from concept to deployment.
- Value collaboration and building strong partnerships.
