Job Description & How to Apply Below
You will work on cutting-edge FPGA solutions that sit at the heart of high-performance RF navigation and communication systems, contributing to technology trusted across defence, law enforcement, and civil applications worldwide. As part of our continued expansion, this role will also play a significant part in the success and development of our new UK manufacturing and engineering capability. About Us We design and manufacture advanced RF navigation and communication systems, delivering market-leading performance in size, weight, power, and reliability.
Our commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions support mission-critical applications globally, with a reputation built on engineering excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. With ambitious growth plans underway, this is an exciting opportunity to join a business entering a major new phase of expansion. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will work on the design and development of advanced FPGA architectures for next-generation PNT and sensor fusion systems.
This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role where you will contribute to real-time systems requiring ultra-fast, highly accurate data processing, advanced signal processing, and robust communication integration. You will have the opportunity to influence architecture, solve complex engineering challenges, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams developing genuinely cutting-edge technology. For engineers who enjoy ownership, technical depth, and meaningful real-world applications, this role offers the chance to make a visible impact from day one.
What Youll Be Doing You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing FPGA solutions for advanced PNT platforms and real-time sensor fusion systems. Your work will include:
Developing FPGA architectures using VHDL, Verilog, and System Verilog Designing high-speed digital systems for real-time applications Implementing and optimising signal processing algorithms including FIR filters and FFTs Integrating communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, and AXI into FPGA-based systems Carrying out hardware-level verification and validation to ensure performance and reliability Debugging and optimising FPGA designs using tools such as ILA and VIO Working closely with software, hardware, and systems teams across complex engineering programmes Contributing to technically advanced products used in highly demanding operational environments To be open, honest and transparent up front, this role, when not travelling, at a client site or at conferences/exhibitions, this role will be fully based on site, 5 days a week without the provision for WFH or hybrid working.
What Were Looking For We are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer who combines strong technical capability with a genuine passion for solving complex engineering problems. You will ideally have:
Proven experience in FPGA design, implementation, and verification Strong proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog
Experience with FPGA development and simulation tools such as Vivado, Model Sim, and Questa Sim A solid understanding of high-speed digital design principles Experience implementing communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, and AXI Knowledge of FPGA verification methodologies, including UVM
Experience with FPGA debugging and validation tools Familiarity with signal processing concepts such as FIR filtering and FFTs The ability to work independently and take ownership of technical delivery
Experience with in aerospace, RF systems, navigation technologies, defence, sensor fusion, or related high-performance engineering environments would be highly advantageous. Exposure to Microblaze, Zynq, TCL/TK scripting, or FPGA-based sensor fusion systems would also be beneficial. Why Join? Join a company entering a major phase of UK and international growth Work on genuinely advanced RF and navigation technology Be part of building and shaping a growing UK engineering capability Gain exposure to complex, high-impact real-world systems Work alongside highly skilled engineers on technically challenging projects If you are an FPGA engineer looking for a role where you can combine technical depth, ownership, and meaningful engineering impact, we would love to hear from you.
As a growing UK operation, we offer the chance to join at an early stage and contribute to a business with a strong trajectory and an…
