Principal Consultant – Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) (Aerospace & Defence)
LocationBristol, London (Victoria), or Manchester – full‑time. Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week at office or client site, up to 5 days on client site. Travel to client site required.
Role OverviewLead PLM solution implementation for aerospace and defense clients, focusing on digital engineering and end‑to‑end product lifecycle. Drive impact through PLM transformation, optimisation and governance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead PLM Transformation and Optimisation initiatives.
- Carry out PLM diagnostics and develop business cases.
- Define business architecture, operating model, requirements and PLM solution blueprint.
- Manage client stakeholders and oversee the full consulting engagement lifecycle.
- Apply PLM solutions across product and technology portfolio management, programme delivery and governance, mission‑driven systems engineering, multi‑disciplinary design and optimisation, connected verification and certification, smart manufacturing, value‑chain collaboration, and sustainment and availability.
- 10+ years PLM experience with major vendors; experience with Siemens solutions a plus.
- Hands‑on expertise in core PLM processes: BOM management, change/config, variant/options management, CAD/CAE integration, ALM/requirements traceability, maintenance and lifecycle support.
- Business case development and implementation roadmap experience. Ability to engage at executive level.
- Previous consulting experience, managing client stakeholders and engagement lifecycle.
- Degree in engineering or related subject.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, TOGAF, EIA‑649, STEP/PLCS, AS9145, ISO 9001/27001 and defence export‑control constraints.
- Industry experience in Defence or other discrete manufacturing.
