On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit FDT Repair Engineers for a 10-month contract. As the FDT Repair Engineer you will be responsible for completing Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis and justifications for metallic and composite structures.
Role: FDT Repair Engineer
Pay: 46 per hour via Umbrella
Location: Filton
Contract: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week, 10 months
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: BPSS
- Performing FDT analysis and compiling justification reports for repair designs using approved methods and tools, working closely with skilled Design and Static Stress engineers to develop optimum repairs.
- Providing technical guidance and support to the internal teams, including the offshore teams, and any suppliers as required.
- Where necessary, leading packages of work, and integrating with Design and Static Stress teams for a major incident or complex activities.
- Developing methods and processes for repair analysis, working with method experts and tool owners to enhance the analysis capability of the repair teams. As well as working with the NDT specialist, developing inspection processes for repaired aircraft.
- When required, providing support to the repair team on other structure perimeters such as Fuselage, Empennage, High‑Lift devices, etc.
- Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience.
- An aerospace FDT engineering background.
- Experience of FDT analysis of aircraft structures using a range of processes, methods and toolsets (ISAMI, GISEH) and experience generating Technical Dossiers/Reports.
- An understanding of the fundamental methods of fatigue and damage tolerance analysis and an ability to develop these methods.
- Understanding of the airworthiness regulations.
- An understanding and ability to decide, with a good rationale, on how the repair design affects the FDT of aircraft structure.
- An ability to choose and apply appropriate analysis methods to the repair design.
- Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design, Customer Services and suppliers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- The ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables.
- The capability to work under pressure and ensure the delivery is technically correct, on time and on quality within the tight time constraints.
- Be pragmatic, able to solve the problem and ability to make decisions based on a good engineering rationale.
