Area Planner (Roads and Networks)

A key role within the Integrated Planning team which encompasses Design, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction & Commissioning for the Civils, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Instrumentation & Controls Scope of Work for HPC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive an area‑based Planning framework, integrated with Reporting and Interdependencies focused on alignment of top‑down/bottom‑up reporting from strategic levels, through Level 1 to Level 5.
  • Develop and maintain the schedule baseline integrated work schedule (IWS) with fully logic‑linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising effective techniques.
  • Support the Area management organisation to ensure that significant risks/opportunities are adequately assessed based on evidence and balanced judgement to underpin regular, timely and accurate information.
  • Enable robust review, challenge of delivery & schedule level reporting that impacts overall project‑level strategic delivery.
  • Produce timely and focused updates of area Planning and Schedule reporting to key stakeholders, to a defined reporting cycle.
  • Drive and challenge strategies for Baseline Schedule project delivery sequence.
  • Continuously develop the Planning team approach by capturing and sharing operational experience and learning.
  • Analyze and assimilate information to identify key risks and make evidence‑based decisions to drive the Planning strategy using a pragmatic and systematic approach.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes in keeping with the HPC project values of “Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity and Clarity” and the culture of “Trust, Transparency and Teamwork.”
  • Accountable for the application of the Trend & Change process within the schedule, including analysis at project level, generating performance indicators, and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Integrate all associated Supply Chain schedules and planning data.
  • Ensure project scheduling standards and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Ensure all project documents, in particular Sensitive Nuclear Information, are correctly protectively marked and protected in accordance with policies and procedures.
Education, Experience and Skills
  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or other related field.
