Role Description
Our Bridges and Civil Structures team has a reputation for technical excellence and innovation, delivering some of the most prestigious and challenging projects across the globe. We work with a diverse client base including the Department of Transport, Transport Scotland, National Highways, Welsh Government, Transport for London, local authorities, major civil engineering contractors and international governments on technically demanding, high‑profile schemes such as rehabilitating critical infrastructure and designing landmark structures.
As a Senior Engineer, you will work under the Bridges Team Leader to deliver technically challenging schemes, take responsibility for project outcomes and client relationships, mentor junior staff, and make key technical decisions on a diverse portfolio of new build and existing assets, ensuring delivery exceeds client expectations.
Accountabilities- Provide technical leadership and advice to project team members.
- Apply sound independent engineering judgment in project development.
- Maintain commercial awareness of engineering project delivery.
- Maintain and extend a sound theoretical approach to the application of technology in engineering practice.
- Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence.
- Demonstrate effective personal and social skills.
- Deliver to a project’s quality management system.
- Apply a sound knowledge of the management of design risks.
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Structural/Civil Engineering.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent.
- Previous relevant experience, including supervision of elements of large, complex structural engineering projects (bridges, retaining walls, etc.) across both new build and existing assets.
- Experience leading a team of around 5 engineers, providing sound leadership support while delivering on projects.
