We will facilitate and sponsor (including payment of course fees) the successful candidate on a Geoscience Apprenticeship degree course undertaken part time at Keele University over a five‑year period. The remainder of the full‑time post would be spent supporting our geo‑environmental teams undertaking environmental and geotechnical ground investigations, environmental monitoring programmes, environmental audits and related activities on behalf of our clients.

What you’ll be doing
  • Site based environmental monitoring such as water and soil sampling
  • Site based support for our ground investigation projects
  • Preparing information and undertaking assessments to support environmental desk study appraisals and subsequent assessments
  • Environmental data entry and management, becoming familiar with industry data formats including software packages for the management of geotechnical and geo‑environmental data
  • Geological appraisals
  • Working individually (with supervision) or as part of a site team
  • Helping prepare factual reports
What we offer you

During your apprenticeship, we will provide a designated mentor to support you in your role and development. There will be opportunities to learn from the wider team which includes a range of technical experts in areas such as:

  • Ground investigation
  • Logging of soils and rocks
  • Human health, controlled waters and gas risk assessment
  • Desk studies and preliminary risk assessments
  • Minerals appraisals
  • Ground engineering appraisals
  • Waste classification and material reuse

Successful completion of this course will enable you to confidently advance in this industry. You could progress your skills further by training as a chartered geologist/scientist.

Who we’re looking for

The Geoscientist Apprenticeship typically requires:

  • A levels ‘BBB’, or BTEC ‘DDM’, or International baccalaureate ‘29’ typically expected.
  • Where applicants can demonstrate substantial and relevant experience, formal qualifications may be waived e.g. work experience or other education schemes.
  • Applicants aged 16-18 at the start of the apprenticeship must hold GCSE qualifications in both Maths and English at Grade C (4) or an equivalent qualification.

In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process in your day-to-day role.
