Bristol or Swansea (Hybrid - 3 days office/site) The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading international engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure and environmental programmes across the UK and globally.
They are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Maritime Engineer to join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team working on major projects within the water and maritime sector.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure schemes, supporting both UK and international programmes across the full project lifecycle.
As a Principal Maritime Engineer, you will:- Lead and coordinate teams delivering complex maritime design projects.
- Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, scopes)
- Provide technical expertise across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and key milestones.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team capability growth
- Contribute to bid development and technical proposals.
- Ensure compliance with design standards, codes, and quality assurance processes.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
- Strong experience within a design consultancy environment
- Berthing structures
- Quay walls
- Dolphins
- Port infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM regulations
- Experience with wave modelling / over topping tools
- Background in the water sector is essential.
- Experience in sectors such as energy or defence is advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering challenges.
