Position: Automation Maintenance Engineer (Pool)

Are you a skilled multi-disciplinary engineer looking for a role that challenges and rewards? We're seeking an Automation Maintenance Engineer at our Bristol Mail Centre, Filton, BS34 7ST
site, to ensure the smooth running of our cutting‑edge automation systems.

Salary & Benefits
  • £54,791 per annum, plus night shift allowance
  • 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme
  • Weekend supplement:
    Saturday (£54.73 per attendance) and Sunday (£109.47 per attendance)
  • Permanent contract
  • Shift attendance equates to 40 hours per week (full time)
Role Overview

This position is a pool role requiring high flexibility and adaptability. You will cover other technicians during leave, sickness, and other operational needs, including late, night, and weekend shifts at short notice. Your standard working pattern will typically be Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 15:30 (day shift).

Responsibilities
  • Keep automation assets performing at their best through preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance
  • Drive continuous improvement projects from concept to implementation
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and team leaders, completing reports and logging faults
  • Diagnose and resolve automation breakdowns quickly to keep operations flowing
  • Monitor performance and work with stakeholders to boost output
  • Take ownership of continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing machinery performance at the Hub/Mail Centre
Qualifications
  • Qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Experienced in maintaining automation equipment, with PLC knowledge preferred
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Proactive team player who can also work independently
  • Full manual UK driving licence (for occasional travel to other sites)
