Safety Case Engineers

Overview

The Defence Industry Solutions Sector is expanding and seeks a Safety Case Engineer with extensive experience in developing safety justification for nuclear infrastructure. Candidates with similar safety case experience within high‑hazard industries or significant nuclear defence industry experience will be considered, where this complements the existing team.

• Take a lead role in the development of the appropriate and proportionate safety case, predominantly including Nuclear, but also Product, Construction, Process and HSE.
• Ensure technical quality and excellence of your work.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and other design‑team members and participate in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, SHERAs and stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to the development of designs for complex facilities, systems and equipment.
• Adhere to and contribute to business and quality management systems.
• Promote operational and design safety and develop a good safety culture.

• Extensive experience in safety case development for nuclear or high‑hazard industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of nuclear, product, construction, process and HSE safety requirements.
• Excellent technical communication skills.
• Self‑starter with the ability to guide and lead others within the team.
• Experience with design reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs and SHERAs.

The role will ideally be based close to our Theale or Bristol office in a hybrid working model, with periodic visits to client sites as projects require.
