Process Engineer - Defence

Line Up Aviation is a specialist aviation and aerospace recruitment company with 35+ years of global operation. We are recruiting for a Process Engineer reporting to the Head of Safety, Airworthiness and Specialty Engineering for a global Defence client. This is a UK-based opportunity; you must have UK working rights at the time of application as sponsorship is not available.

• Develop, maintain and govern engineering processes and their integration into the client’s Process Model for current and future states, ensuring alignment across engineering value streams (develop & design, produce and support).
• Partner with engineering departments to define process models, map processes to capabilities (e.g., SIPOCs), and maintain the process architecture, document trees and roadmaps.
• Support compliance with Enterprise Governance and QMS/ISO/AS9100 standards; support audits, gap analyses and KPIs, and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve process integrations.
• Promote standardisation and continuous improvement: identify opportunities to harmonise processes, investigate issues/conflicts, and provide CI oversight.
• Develop and maintain engineering process effectiveness strategy, providing guidance to departments and teams.
• Produce and maintain process communications, training, onboarding materials and competency development to ope rationalise process strategies across technical teams.
• Support Engineering Process Authority activities: support departmental leads, the Engineering Process Council, working groups, and interface with QA to ensure engineering alignment (occurrences, NCRs, findings, audits).
• Support oversight and governance of Technical Design Reviews (TDRs).
• Support development of strategies for design practice integration into programmes/products and ensure Design Practice developments and integrations align with established client practices.

• Strong process engineering and governance understanding, including developing/documenting engineering processes, applying process management governance to integrated systems, supporting audits, performing gap/root-cause analyses within QMS CAPA processes, defining KPIs/metrics, and understanding change management principles.
• Practical systems engineering lifecycle experience across Development, Design, Production, Support, and Maintenance, including scalable V-model execution, gate review controls, and engineering release.
• Knowledge and experience of PLM, ERP and MOM system integrations, and digital artefacts flow and traceability.
• Standards and regulatory knowledge: familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements for engineering QMS, and UK military/defence frameworks (e.g., DEF STAN, JSP) and their intersection with aerospace/defence standards.
• MBSE (preferred): understanding of MBSE principles and modelling (e.g., SysML) to manage requirements, architecture and verification, and experience mapping process systems into MBSE architectures to assess model integrity and model-to-requirement traceability.
• UK right to live and work in the UK (no sponsorship); ability to obtain BPSS clearance as required.
