We are seeking an experienced Obsolescence Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation on a long-term contract basis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing obsolescence activities across complex engineering programmes, ensuring components, systems and products remain supportable throughout their lifecycle. Working closely with engineering teams, suppliers and key stakeholders, you will drive obsolescence management activities and support effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer notification activities, obsolescence reviews and information management using established company processes and tools.
  • Perform Bill of Materials (BoM) reviews and ongoing obsolescence monitoring activities.
  • Develop and maintain Selected Component Lists (SCLs) and obtain relevant design authority approvals.
  • Generate and maintain Obsolescence Management Plans (OMPs).
  • Liaise with external suppliers to obtain current component and product obsolescence status.
  • Support the Obsolescence Lead to ensure activities are delivered to programme schedules.
  • Build effective relationships with Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to achieve project objectives and secure stakeholder engagement.
  • Review obsolescence management processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in and lead regular Obsolescence Review Boards, ensuring timely closure of actions and risks.
  • Provide accurate reporting and recommendations to support lifecycle management decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with in engineering, manufacturing or product lifecycle environments.
  • Understanding of obsolescence management principles and processes.
  • Ability to interpret electronic component datasheets and technical specifications.
  • Experience conducting BoM analysis and component lifecycle assessments.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Comfortable working within defined processes and procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
