Transport Planner

If you're looking for a Transport Planning role where you'll have genuine responsibility, a diverse workload and the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry's most experienced engineers, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Transport Planner to join our growing Bristol team at an exciting time. With a strong pipeline of projects across the South West and beyond, you'll have the opportunity to work on everything from major residential and mixed-use developments to healthcare, education, industrial and energy schemes.

This is a role where your ideas will be valued, your career will be supported, and no two projects will be the same.

Why Join Us?

As an employee-owned engineering consultancy with over 60 years of success, we're proud of the collaborative culture we've built. Our people genuinely enjoy working together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another's development.

The Bristol office offers the perfect balance of a close-knit team environment with the backing and expertise of a national business. You'll work alongside Transport Planners, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers and Geo-Environmental specialists, giving you exposure to multidisciplinary projects from day one.

Whether you're looking to build your technical expertise, develop client relationships or progress towards chartership, we'll provide the support, mentoring and opportunities to help you achieve your goals.

The Opportunity

As a Transport Planner, you'll play a key role in delivering projects from initial feasibility through to planning submission.

You'll work closely with clients, architects, planning consultants and local authorities, helping to shape developments that are accessible, sustainable and deliver real value to the communities they serve.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Delivery and Servicing Plans and transport chapters of Environmental Statements.
  • Advising clients on transport strategy, accessibility and planning policy.
  • Supporting site appraisals and helping to develop successful planning strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with our in-house engineering teams to influence site layouts and highway solutions.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Managing your own workload while contributing to larger multidisciplinary projects.

As your experience grows, you'll have the opportunity to take greater ownership of projects, mentor junior colleagues and become involved in business development and networking across the region.

We're looking for someone who's enthusiastic about Transport Planning and enjoys solving real-world challenges.

You'll ideally have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Around 2-3 years' experience within a Transport Planning consultancy.
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and other planning-related reports.
  • A good understanding of UK transport planning policy and guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, vehicle tracking, preliminary highway design or junction modelling software would be advantageous, but it's not essential.
  • If you're an ambitious graduate with relevant industry experience or a Transport Planning-related Master's degree, we'd still love to hear from you.
What You'll Get

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from:

  • Industry-leading employee benefits, including access to five-star holiday lodges.
  • Award-winning learning and development programmes.
  • Structured support towards professional development and chartership.
  • A genuinely collaborative, employee-owned culture where your voice matters.
  • The opportunity to work on high-profile, technically challenging projects across a wide range of sectors.
  • Career progression that's based on your ambitions and achievements, not just time served.
  • The backing of an Investors in People Platinum-accredited organisation-an achievement held by fewer than 1% of accredited businesses.
