An engineering assessor post at Weston College, supporting its growing apprenticeship provision in engineering. The core of the job is judging apprentices' competence in college and in the workplace, tracking their progress and giving structured feedback. The role is primarily field-based, with regular travel to partner employers, and is aimed at people moving from industry into education who will be trained for assessing.
A Level 3 engineering qualification and significant industry experience are required, with an assessor qualification provided if needed.
- Assess apprentice competence in college and in work-based settings
- Monitor and track apprentice progress using online systems
- Give structured feedback and guidance to support development
- Plan and coordinate assessment activities to meet apprenticeship standard completion dates
- Maintain accurate reports on apprentice progression
- Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent
- Significant, relevant industry experience in engineering
- Up-to-date knowledge of current engineering practices and standards
- Previous assessing or teaching experience
- Temporary recruitment and retention premium of £3,000 per annum
