Job Description & How to Apply Below

You’ll be working within The Portland Group, an entrepreneurial business with over 21 years' experience in the corporate accommodation sector. While our corporate accommodation offering is well established, we're also building and investing in new ventures within hospitality as the business evolves.

You’ll gain exposure across our established operations and growing initiatives, keeping the work varied and giving you real insight into how a dynamic, expanding company operates.

You’ll support the running of the finance function, with a particular focus on cost and management reporting. You will prepare accurate financial information for decision‑making and regulatory purposes and carry out detailed reviews to ensure transactions and processes are operating as expected.

However, this role isn’t just about producing reports. You’ll get stuck into the details behind the numbers, helping to explain variances and support better financial understanding across the business.

You will also support the finance team through changes and growth, including the improvement and implementation of processes, as well as coaching and mentoring the wider team.

What You’ll Be Doing Monthly Reporting & Analysis
  • Own the end-to-end preparation of monthly management accounts for the group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Present results to the Head of Finance and Finance Director with clear commentary and variance analysis – highlighting key drivers and risks.
Cost & Performance Insight
  • Produce monthly cost analysis reports, explaining variances to budget and forecast.
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to manage costs and help implement practical solutions and controls.
  • Carry out daily cash reviews and forecasting, escalating any variances.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns for review, ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
Supporting the Finance Team & Business
  • Calculate and prepare monthly sales commission figures.
  • Coach and support colleagues in the Finance Team, helping them provide accurate data and understand the numbers.
  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation.
  • Contribute to improving finance processes, systems, and ways of working as the business grows.
What We’re Looking For
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience in management accounting.
  • Strong communicator who can explain financial information clearly and confidently.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated and hardworking with drive, ambition and enthusiasm.
  • Confident IT user (Microsoft Office); training will be provided on Res:

Harmonics, Sugar CRM, and Quick Books.
