What is Internal Audit?Internal audit is about understanding how organisations work from the inside. Rather than focusing only on finance, you’ll get involved in reviewing and understanding how organisations manage risk and make decisions. You’ll be involved in operational processes across different departments, governance, controls and compliance frameworks, and areas such as IT systems, procurement, Human Resources, and service delivery.
You’ll work with a wide range of organisations – including companies, housing associations, charities, education providers, and other diverse and interesting organisations – giving you a broader and more varied experience than many traditional entry‑level roles.
What you’ll be doing- Supporting internal audit reviews across a variety of organisations
- Learning how to assess risks and evaluate controls
- Speaking with client teams to understand how processes work
- Testing key controls and documenting findings
- Contributing to reports that help organisations improve
- On‑the‑job training and support from experienced internal audit professionals
- Exposure to clients and real work from the beginning
- Structured development as you build your skills and confidence
- Broad exposure across multiple industries
- Opportunity to pursue a professional qualification such as IIA in time
- Encouragement to participate in business development, CSR, diversity, sports and social activities
- 3 A Levels (or equivalent) with minimum grades of C/C/C or 96 UCAS points
- 9 GCSEs 9‑4 (A*‑C), including at least Grade 4 in Maths and English
- Curiosity and interest in how organisations work
- Strong communication skills with good attention to detail
- Enthusiasm to learn in a practical environment
- Confidence to work with people and ask questions
- Motivation to take on responsibility
