Help shape the financial future of Marmalade Trust, work with us to reduce the stigma associated with loneliness and improve social connection. We're looking for a Treasurer to provide financial oversight, support strategic decisions and help ensure our charity's long-term sustainability.
What difference will you make? The Treasurer will play a vital role in helping ensure our charity remains financially strong, well‑governed and able to grow its impact in the years ahead. By providing expert financial oversight and strategic guidance, they will help the Board make informed decisions about how we invest our resources, manage risk and plan for the future.
As demand for our services continues to grow, the Treasurer will help us maintain the financial resilience needed to support more people experiencing loneliness and social isolation. Their oversight of budgets, forecasts, reserves and financial controls will provide assurance that we are using our resources effectively and sustainably.
The Treasurer will also strengthen the Board's ability to oversee financial performance and long‑term planning, ensuring we remain compliant with our regulatory responsibilities while continuing to pursue opportunities for growth and innovation. Their input will help us assess funding opportunities, understand the financial implications of strategic decisions and maintain the confidence of funders, partners and stakeholders.
Most importantly, this role will help ensure that the charity can continue delivering and expanding its work to reduce loneliness and build stronger, more connected communities. Through effective financial stewardship, the Treasurer's contribution will directly support our ability to reach more people, develop new initiatives and maximise our social impact.
What are we looking for?We are looking for a Treasurer who can bring financial expertise, sound judgement and a strategic mindset to our Board. Whether you are a qualified accountant or have developed equivalent financial experience through your career, you will be confident interpreting financial information and using it to support effective decision‑making.
Our ideal candidate will have

- The ability to analyse financial reports, budgets, forecasts and risks, and communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial audiences.
- Experience contributing to strategic discussions and helping organisations plan for long‑term sustainability.
- An understanding of risk management and financial controls.
- The confidence to provide constructive challenge, ask questions and advocate for the right course of action when required.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with fellow trustees, the CEO and wider team.
Experience of charity finance, fundraising, the Charity SORP framework, pension schemes or trustee governance would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates whose financial expertise has been gained in the private, public or voluntary sectors.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to reducing loneliness and strengthening communities. If you are motivated by using your professional skills to create meaningful social impact and help a charity thrive, we would love to hear from you.
What will you be doing? We are searching for a Treasurer to join our Board and provide strategic financial oversight as we continue to grow our impact and strengthen our long‑term sustainability. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the charity's future direction and ensuring we have the resources needed to deliver our mission effectively.
Working closely with the Chair, CEO and fellow Trustees, the Treasurer will act as the Board's financial lead, helping trustees understand the charity's financial position and the implications of strategic decisions.
